About me

Minecraft developer and creator for 10+ years, and then some.

Who I am

I'm 255Ping, a Minecraft developer and creator with at least 10 years of experience running servers and building content for them. I mostly stuck to the RPG genre, though I've made plenty of non-RPG projects along the way.

Servers I've run

All hosted on Minehut, oldest to most recent:

  1. HypeForRPG, the really old one
  2. DawnRPG, my second oldest, but the most known
  3. FateRPG
  4. CobbleRPG
  5. Evergaol

DawnRPG in action

I don't have screenshots of the servers, but here are a couple videos from people who played DawnRPG. Fair warning: these are 6+ year old videos, so don't expect modern Minecraft polish:

Fun detail: at 2:51 in the first video (called "an actually good rpg server on minehut [CLOSED]"), the tablist shows 26 players online, and my Minecraft name _255Ping is right there on it.

The map

This is a map I've used on a few of my RPG servers, mostly the newer ones. Pretty much anything after DawnRPG used this map or some form of it:

What I've been up to lately

In recent years I've branched out from Minecraft. I make games and simulations in Godot (those live on my itch.io and GitHub), build general purpose software, and I've made a few small mods for one of my favorite games, Project Zomboid.

How it started

Way back as a kid I was "running servers" from my tablet at around 9 years old, using some app that might have been called LeetMC (I honestly can't remember the exact name). Before I even had a computer, I was hosting worlds on Minecraft PS4 edition through PSN communities, where people could join and fight in kitpvp arenas built entirely from redstone and whatever settings that edition let me mess with. Once I finally got a PC, I moved on to locally hosted servers with port forwarding, and that went on for a while, right up until someone told me my address.
